Christmas Candlelight Concerts Set for Dec. 15

Muskegon Community College in cooperation with the First Congregational Church of Muskegon will present  performances of "Joyeux Noël Carols and More from France" on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. 

Free and open to the public, the performances will be held in the First Congregational Church, 1201 Jefferson St. A goodwill offering will be taken and a reception will follow each performance.

The program opens with traditional French carols performed by candlelight. Highlighting the event will be Poulenc's masterwork "Gloria" with soprano soloist Jessica Dold of Ann Arbor, Mich. and guest organist Dr. William Haller of West Virginia University. Joining the performance will be tenor soloist Dr. Oliver Henderson of Central Michigan University. The concert will feature a 120-member combined chorus from First Congregational Church and Muskegon Community College under the direction of Thomas Clark with accompanist Dr. Solee Lee-Clark.

The 3 p.m. concert will include a performance by the young voices of the Youth Alive Choir. For more information, contact the church office at (231)726-3254.
