Steel Magnolias is a play that is a staple of the Medical Humanities. We watch as a woman risks her life, a gamble she loses, to bring a child into the world. She undergoes a transplant and the transplant fails. We learn from her sacrifice how to talk about the trade offs forced upon us by medical conditions.
Education is part of the cure, and our neighbors who cope with diabetes deserve the best education we can provide. Thank goodness, thanks to Norse Theater and the Greater Muskegon Women's Club, we can see a play and make a contribution.
